Position Purpose:
 
As a service organization, Education Service Center Region 15’s primary commitment is to provide superior support to every Local Education Agency (LEA) stakeholder served.  Our people are our greatest asset.  As the Technical Specialist Hourly, this position will assist in cultivating the ESC culture by communicating effectively and providing team members and LEAs the support and resources necessary for the successful attainment of the ESCs values, vision, mission, strategies, and goals.  

This position reports to the Director of Network Services and is responsible for the day-to-day desktop support for ESC Region 15 staff. This is a part-time position with flexible hours up to 30 hours per week.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain desktop support experience to gain hands-on experience and shadow/train with knowledgeable professionals.

Essential Functions:

  • Content Knowledge and Understanding: Exhibit deep knowledge specific to installation, testing, and oversight of all network and server hardware, software, and related equipment.  Stay current and up-to-date on the latest information security technologies and regulatory environments.  
  • Network Services: Provide ESC Region 15 staff support and assistance with network related needs. Ensure the provision of comprehensive, integrated, reliable, high-quality services in areas such as: local area networking, secure network facilities and infrastructure, Internet access, high-performance networking, network security, remote access to ESC Region 15 IT services are available, maintained and monitored. 
  • Partnership, Support and Training: Deliver and facilitate technical assistance and support on a day to day basis for all LEAs and stakeholders served; including but not limited to:
    1. Guidance that builds a shared understanding of responsibilities, duties and requirements of technical and compliance operations.
    2. Support to ensure the provision of comprehensive, integrated, reliable, high-quality services in areas such as: local area networking, secure network facilities and infrastructure, Internet access, high-performance networking, network security, remote access to ESC Region 15 IT services are available, maintained and monitored.                                                 
  • Culture & Growth: Contribute to maintaining and improving the culture of the ESC through customer service, respect for confidentiality, displaying self-initiative, and modeling a growth mindset through self-reflection and feedback reception.
Major Responsibilities and Duties: 
  • Provide Tier 1 desktop support and triage.
  • Provide technical support for ESC Region 15 staff including but not limited to the following:
    • Workstations
    • Printers
    • Tablets
    • Malware
    • Microsoft Office
    • Google Apps
    • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Assist in onboarding of new staff.
  • Assist in maintaining technology inventory.
  • Assist in creating technical solutions for various procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Specialist Lead, Director of Network Services, and/or the Executive Director.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware and software 
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic computer issues 
  • Ability to work in a team driven environment 
  • Desire to enter and learn the information technology field.

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma (preferred/not required)
