Recruiter - Migrant Education Program (Part-time/Temporary)...



Reports To: 

Migrant Education Specialist, Program Director, and Deputy Director 

Job Goal:

The Migrant Education Program (MEP) Recruiter locates, identifies and recruits eligible migrant children for Region 15 Education Service Center.  The recruiter accurately documents the facts by interviewing families for the program to identify children using the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and Supplemental Documentation Form (SDF). 

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Make home visits and interview migrant families to determine eligibility for services
  • Accurately ascertain and document all relevant family and student information using the certificate of Eligibility and submit the COE and COE SDF to the Migrant Specialist
  • Communicate with potential employers in order to provide leads and/or obtain employment information regarding eligibility determination for prospective migrant children
  • Distribute educational materials, clothing, and hygiene products to students throughout the year
  • Establish trust and maintain confidentiality with information for the purposes of completing the Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
  • Maintain current knowledge of all procedures and practices contained in the Texas Manual for Identification and Recruitment of Migrant Children
  • Participate in training's to remain current on all federal and state COE requirements and policies
  • Inform students and parents/guardians of available services
  • Comply with all state and federal laws
  • Responsible for maintaining good public relations with area school personnel
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Migrant Specialist, Program Director, Deputy Director, and/or Executive Director
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of acceptable migrant recruitment and/or service delivery preferred
  • Experience working with Federal Funding Programs, preferred
  • Ability to work with diverse community populations and communicate effectively with parents of migrant children
  • Strong interviewing/probing skills related to eligibility determination
  • Computer skills to include network systems, desktop publishing, word processing
Special Considerations:

Hourly Rate is contingent upon qualifications and experience
